Workshops Offered

The offices of the Dean of Students and Student Rights & Responsibilites offer several workshops for student groups and campus departments that are designed to assist the campus community in it's mission to provide a high-quality education that is responsive to the needs of a fast-changing world.

Below you will find a list of workshops currently being offered. This list may change over time as the needs of the campus change, so check back to see what is available in the future. If you see a workshop that you think will be valuable to your area, please follow the link at the bottom of this page to the request form where we will ask for some basic information. Typically we will reach out to you within 2-3 business days to confirm and finalize the workshop scheduling.

Current Workshops

Classroom Management (60 minutes):
This workshop addresses faculty rights and responsibilities in managing the classroom environment. Topics covered include addressing disruptive behavior, managing classroom discussions, academic dishonesty, and students in class under the influence.
Microaggressions (60 minutes)
An introduction to the concept of microaggressions. Topics covered include campus climate, language, and identifying microaggressions.
True Jacks STAND (45 minutes):
This workshop is focused on identifying microaggressions and the development of bystander intervention. (Note: this can be added to the microaggression training for a total time of 2 hours)
The Role of Resiliency for HSU Students (60-90 minutes):
At times, some of our most difficult and challenging life experiences can be recognized as events where wisdom and experience are gained. The examples will be utilized to create a foundation for current and future success.  Interactive workshop will challenge participants to explore personal examples of adversity and resilience.
Working with Students of Concern (60-90 minutes): 
Learn about the strategies and guidelines for working with students of concern and the resources available to assist you and the student. Issues covered include problematic/disruptive behavior, depression and anxiety, substance abuse, and suicide ideation.
